Rwandan Baskets – known as Agaseke, are recognized as a symbol of generosity, gratitude and compassion.
There is as much beauty in the stories behind the strong woman of Rwanda as there is in the baskets they create. These women come together to make gorgeous traditional baskets and at the same time, create economic opportunities for their families. They use a technique that has been practiced for almost a thousand years. As they sit and weave, they heal in body, mind and soul, and position themselves and their families for a more stable future.
Agaseke baskets are traditionally filled with deliciously fresh and dried foods and given to friends and family members as gifts.
